    We agreed that the problem is that we always underestimate both the cleverness they can apply to the problem.

  2. Sorry. The last sentence should have said that we underestimate both the number of idiots, and the cleverness they can bring to the issue.

  3. News reports out of what was formerly “Great” Britain indicate that this is pretty much par for their course nowadays.

    Unfortunately, the “primo” members of our educational establishment are themselves the beneficiaries of a dumbed-down curriculum, and thus, probably unable to learn anything from this example.

    My Scots ancestors must be rolling in their tombs and barrows . . .
